About Tring Cinema

Tring Cinema is a community cinema for Tring and the surrounding villages.

Tring Cinema originated from a slightly mad idea that developed when Lee from Tring Design and Steffi from Tring Together met at a networking event. Here it was decided that we would try and bring a cinema screen back to town – made from plastic pipes. Well, we had to start somewhere…

Oh boy and what a start it was! With our Facebook page set up, it became clear very quickly that you loved the idea as much as we did. When Epson then offered us a projector to see whether all these likes would translate into an actual audience, there was no going back. Thanks to the immense support from many local businesses, organisations, and our shared vision of inviting Tring to cosy film nights that have this warm and charming community atmosphere, Tring Cinema launched in 2015 with a summer of outdoor screenings that soon developed into monthly film nights at the Nora Grace Hall.

We wheeled comfy chairs from St. Peter & Paul Church to the hall and back, borrowed the Tring Carnival sound systems, constructed and dismantled a 3m wide screen out of 37 parts, and volunteered our suffering spouses to the course until, with the generous support from Tring Town Council and the Tring Arts Trust, we were able to install beautiful raked seating, an automatic screen and a fantastic surround sound system. Unfortunately shortly after Covid closed our doors for two years but we’re now back and better than ever!

Throughout all this time, you supported us immensely by filling our seats, snacking from the bar, bringing with you joy and laughter, and telling your family and friends about us. We are here because you are, and long may it continue!
